The functions of the KZN PPC are to undertake and guide strategic planning and make recommendations that:

lead to the refinement and periodic review of the Provincial Growth and Development Strategy and Plan (PGDS/P) for the Province;

ensure full alignment of the PGDS/P with the National Development Plan (NDP), as well as to provide a sound basis for the facilitation of District Municipal alignment with both National and Provincial Development Plans;

support and improve the effectiveness, efficiency and pace of implementing the PGDS/P;

contribute to reviews of implementation and analytical reporting on the state of progress made with the implementation of the PGDS/P;

facilitate resolution of key challenges posing a risk to the successful implementation of the PGDS/P;

guide periodic Citizen Satisfaction Surveys as a means of testing public perceptions which should inform the continuous refinement of the PGDS/P;

assist in mobilising society around a provincial vision and processes related to macro policy development and provincial strategic planning; and
-
contribute to development of national and international partnerships and networks of expertise on planning.
