The Secretariat of the KZN Provincial Planning Commission (KZN PPC) is provided by the Strategic Management Branch in the Office of the Premier, comprising of two Chief Directorates namely, the Strategic Planning, Research and Policy Coordination Chief Directorate and the Monitoring and Evaluation Chief Directorate.

The Secretariat renders administrative, technical and professional secretariat support services to the KZN PPC. The functions of the Secretariat are to:

  • Support the KZN PPC in the day to day management of its affairs;
  • Facilitate the drafting of and managing the implementation of the KZN PPC Strategic and Business Plan;
  • Facilitate engagement and consultation with key government, private sector and civic society stakeholders;
  • Co-ordinate Commission policy and planning programmes;
  • Co-ordinate and drive Commission research programmes;
  • Manage the Commission communication programme;
  • Manage corporate, financial and human resource affairs of the Commission;
  • Render secretariat / administrative support to the Commission and its members; and
  • Prepare progress reports to the Premier and Provincial Executive Council as and when required, as well as Annual Closeout Reports.
