EXPERIENCE /KEY ACHIEVEMENTS
Mzimkulu Msiwa is on retirement having been the Chief Executive of Umgeni Water from 2006 to 2011, having first joined Umgeni Water as the General Manager Operations in 2003
Prior to this he was National Director of Programme Management and Support at the Independent Development Trust (IDT)
Mzimkulu has sixteen (16) years experience in Local Government which included six years as City Engineer of Umtata and six years as City Engineer of Port Elizabeth (now Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Municipality)
Key achievements at Umgeni Water was the significant enhancement of the balance sheet, and effectiveness of the organization and the affordability of water as evidenced by a water tariff of R2.58 per cubic meter in 2005 to R3.43per cubic meter in 2011
Mzimkulu also attended several comprehensive planning programs in Sweden , several Central American countries, Vietnam and Canada
In 1996 he was part of a team of developing toolkits for Public/Private Partenerships in water and sanitation convened by the World Bank. He also attended a Course on Infrastructure investment in a Market Economy at Harvard University in 2008
